Opportunities (We are not recruiting at present)
The Close Protection World is saturated with qualified people many of whom are not working in security at all and have to make do with unrelated jobs (this is what they fail to tell you on all those CP courses).
This is a great shame as there are many good CPOs out there going to waste.
At Quest Protection we recognise this and we do our best to try and help those CP officers find work or at least work within the security sphere (IE. event security, escort work etc).
We also recognise that there is massive competition between operators for the best jobs. Everybody is chasing the yearly contracts and who can blame them? The old saying, 'Bits n' Pieces' rings a bell with most operators. Very often operators have to scratch around for work. It's a sad fact but it's true as most operators will testify.
The reality of the CP world is that you have to take the rough with the smooth which means sometimes a very good opportunity arises where you are one-on-one with a high value principal and other times you can be operating on a small scale security job freezing in a cold field wondering when your next break will happen. This is the reality.
The good news is that there are good jobs out there but the flipside is you are only as good as your last job and much work within the CP sphere relies on recommendation - in other words there are two important factors: your reputation as an operator and who you know.
Quest Protection endeavour to find good people who are professional and take their job but not themselves seriously. In Civvie Street often customer service comes first and security ability second. Therefore the importance of being well presented, well spoken and appropriately behaved is paramount.
Close Protection ettiquette: this is the challenge for most CPOs in Civvie Street (One silly mistake can finish a contract).
